Small Amounts of Cannabis Can Improve Some People’s Driving Ability

Earlier this week, academics from the Cannabis Chemistry Division of the American Chemical Society held an openAsk Me Anything session in Reddit’s Science community to take all your questions about the most talked about plant around: marijuana.

In the AMA, the researchers say they are constantly having to defend their research projects. Even though they’re not breaking any laws, they mention that their peers constantly make “wild assumptions” about their work with marijuana.

That’s not surprising considering they work in a controversial field. What is surprising, however, are some of the studies they brought up in the discussion.

One study found that cannabis smokers had better lung capacity than non-smokers—which seems counterintuitive even if you’re a pot enthusiast.

Another study provided evidence that the negative cognition effects of marijuana are only temporary rather than long-term. All in all, the downsides of cannabis use seemed to be less severe than we originally thought.
