Disturbing news came out Tuesday, the son of former L.A. city fire chief and two ex-Transportation Security Administration workers pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy, overall working as a ring to transport marijuana from the LAX airport. According to Los Angeles Times, the son of former-fire chief, Millage Peaks was the brains of the operation. Peaks initiated his deal by meeting the once TSA employee, Dianna Perez and agreeing to a very risky settlement.

The reports filed in federal court Tuesday show that Peaks bribed Dianna Perez to allow a bag of marijuana through the airport in LA. If so, Peaks would transfer $500 to the TSA worker, which happened in 2010. This was Peaks’ first deal and by the end of one year, the two individuals conducted nine assignments, all drug related; according to the plea agreement. However, Dianna Perez reportedly paid another TSA worker, Randy Littlefield $200 to work at least two of Peaks’ packages.

In October, Perez was fired after a baggage employee caught onto a marijuana scent coming from Millage Peaks’ suitcase; this resulted in Littlefield resigning the same month. The overall amount seized by authorities was fourteen pounds.

Inside the plea deal also explains that Perez taught Mr. Peaks how to store marijuana so detectors and other equipment would not pick up any trace. Besides educating Peaks on how-to cheat security machines, the TSA employee would personally hand check his luggage, most likely to cover from detection of other workers at the airport.
