The Eiffel Tower and the surrounding parks were evacuated after a bomb threat was phoned to authorities on Wednesday, media reports say.
The incident was the fourth time police have evacuated the popular tourist destination. Around 4,000 were evacuated on Wednesday after the threat was phoned in but were allowed to go back inside two hours later.
Like in past incidents, no explosives were found, The Associated Press reported. A suspicious package was recovered near a plaza by the tower, but there is not a clear connection between it and the phone call. Police later determined that the package contained no bomb.
France has received threats from extremist groups over troops in Afghanistan as well as the recently-passed law banning Muslims from wearing face veils in public.
